Chalcosiderite from Wheal Phoenix near Linkinhorne in Cornwall, England is the undisputed world's best. It is not the Type Locality, but the discoveries made during the 1870s are leagues ahead of any other occurrence both in terms of crystal size and overall spectacular coverage. As such, specimens found their way into all major world museums, as the best of species. This extremely rich cabinet-sized display specimen displays the classic iron-rich (Goethite) gossan within which one very large Chalcosiderite-lined cavity forms the centrepiece. This cavity measures 7 x 2.5 cm in size and is lined with glossy deep forest-green rosettes of Chalcosiderite to 3 to 4 mm in diameter. A couple of the rosettes appear to be slightly contacted, but the richness of this pocket is exceptional for the species. It comes accompanied by an old typed card label from what appears to be a major English-speaking institutional collection, with this specimen numbered as 656. This label also mentions the discredited species Andrewsite, but that is not clearly present. Ex Nick Carruth collection and ex Simon Lawrence collection.
