"Blister Copper" is an unusual variety of botryoidal layered Chalcopyrite, rarely seen, but was found in a small number of historic mines in Cornwall, England. This miniature specimen from the legendary Dolcoath mine, near Camborne - worked across three centuries - displays not only the outer botryoidal texture, but sections through the banding too, just like stalactites. Internally, the Chalcopyrite is golden metallic, but externally it is brassy with a historic dark patina with flashes of purple iridescence. In some respects, its form is like florettes, with an almost organic shape. A lovely textural sample of this fascinating variety of Chalcopyrite, and in superb condition. Ex Malcolm Southwood collection, no. MS 2014.225, and ex Cowan collection
