This is a cute and colorful Red Cloud Mine small cabinet piece adorned with nearly a dozen, tabular, rich orange Wulfenite crystals from 1.5 mm to 1 cm. The one prominent, 1 cm, bright orange Wulfenite stands out conspicuously off the piece on one of its corners to show off it's sharp form and translucent to transparent vivid color! The other, smaller crystals are just as bright and scattered around the one side of the piece and all are nicely isolated with some adorned with small Calcite crystals. The base of the entire plate is just covered with 2-3 mm, translucent to transparent, off-white crystals! We should assume the frontal crystal is repaired, even though we cannot confirm that. This is from the Red Gem Pocket of 2003, which produced a very few specimens with this crazy amazing contrast on quartz — which is otherwise not seen from the Red Cloud. The combination of wulfenite on quartz is particularly contrasted and pretty. Featured in the book Collecting Pseudomorphs: The Changelings of Mineralogy (Mineralogical Record, January 2025) on p. 68, fig. 13. Part of an educational set, with these additional items: Vanadinite (SYP25-03a) and Vanadinite ps. Wulfenite (SYP25-03b).
