Doubly terminated Smoky Quartz crystals are not that common from the occurrence at Lincoln County, New Mexico and this is a nice miniature. It is a little over two inches long, almost completely transparent with a few veiled wisps internally and has a perfect smoky hue. The terminations on each end are complete and both are just slightly complicated with one end having a small, 6 mm, sidecar crystal and the other a doublet for a termination with two points. The luster is somewhere between satin and vitreous and each prism face has horizontal striations on the prism faces perpendicular to its length.
