Quartz
Doubly terminated Smoky Quartz crystals are not that common from the occurrence at Lincoln County, New Mexico and this is a nice miniature. It is a little over two inches long, almost completely transparent with a few veiled wisps internally and has a perfect smoky hue. The terminations on each end are complete and both are just slightly complicated with one end having a small, 6 mm, sidecar crystal and the other a doublet for a termination with two points. The luster is somewhere between satin and vitreous and each prism face has horizontal striations on the prism faces perpendicular to its length. Part of an educational set, with these additional items: Quartz ps. Apatite (SYP25-07b) and Fluorapatite (SYP25-07c).
