HAUCHECORNITE with Millerite
Hauchecornite is a very rare nickel bismuth antimony sulphide, described in 1893 from Friedrich mine at Wissen, Siegerland, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. This miniature specimen from the superb systematic collection assembled by the brothers Martin and Michael Günther (1951-2007 & 1956-2021) is documented as from Wissen, and although not more specifically located, the close assemblage of Hauchecornite with matted Millerite crystals is very typical of the original material from Friedrich mine near Wissen. An arrow marks the main Hauchecornite crystal - a 1.5 mm pinkish brassy metallic blocky tetragonal crystal contrasting with the porous matted golden Millerite matrix. This is classic material, so rarely seen available.
