Azurite is one of Tsumeb's signature species, and the instantly recognizable Malachite ps Azurite combination occurs worldwide. The primary Azurite crystals were/are prismatic and blocky-to-bladed, and they range up to about 1.8 cm. The color is a deep blue with that hypnotic blue translucence along the edges. The Malachite, after Azurite, has retained the super-sharp edges of the original, blocky Azurites, and they also range from 1.8 cm long up to 1 cm thick. Just as attractive as the form is the color, which is an unusually deep green with a high luster that ranges to almost a sparkly velvet. To me, this is an exceptional but traditional example of this well-know combination, with really good aesthetics and form. Dr. Erika Pohl-Ströher - 39003.
