A Tsumeb rarity, Schneiderhöhnite is usually seen for sale as little 2-5mm crystals on ugly ore matrix. However, there was one pocket found in the germanium level which produced these relatively huge crystals and set the standard for the species for all time to come. Simply put, this is a top-flight thumbnail for species and aesthetics. The unusual narrow and elongated aesthetics and form, as well as luster, are outstanding. Tsumeb is the TYPE LOCALITY and the only locality for superb larger crystals of this species. Lastly, I should point out that this crystal, or intergrown pair of crystals, shows well from multiple angles, adding to its virtue as a display thumbnail. Dr. Erika Pohl-Ströher - PTN32.
