Featuring two of Tsumeb's best-known lead species, Mimetite and Cerussite, this is a fine miniature for this great locality. The yellow Mimetites are translucent-to-gemmy, glassy, and form in sharp, hexagonal prisms with pyramidal terminations. The largest is 1.9 cm, and the attractive crystals display nicely in multiple directions. The Mimetites are good, but it is the unexpected Cerussite that elevates the level of this piece. Sure, this combination exists in numerous variations, but here it is different. What looks like a simple piece of white matrix below the Mimetite crystals is actually a plate of densely grown, reticulated, mm-or-less Cerussites. Look closely, and you can appreciate the unusual and fascinating nature of this pairing. Dr. Erika Pohl-Ströher - 36077.
