This is a fine, aesthetic thumbnail specimen of a classic mineral species from the great Tsumeb Mine. Cerussite, a lead carbonate, is one of Tsumeb's signature species. Highly regarded for its gemmy, adamantine crystals, the bladed Cerussite crystals here display exactly those qualities. Up to 1.4 cm in size, the faces are glassy and the beveled edges are sharp. Very attractive already, the desirability of this thumbnail is raised up a notch because the bladed crystals are also reticulated twins. Oriented just right, you can appreciate the beginnings of the famous 'snowflake' development of crystals from tsumeb. This piece has been repaired. Dr. Erika Pohl-Ströher - 34899.
