Scorodite with Gerdtremmelite
Years before the gemmy blue Scorodites were found, there was a small, unique Scorodite find deep in the Germanium Level of Tsumeb's famous Third Oxidation Zone. Likely from that discovery, this cluster is composed of translucent, grey-blue, resinous, orthorhombic, dipyramidal (pseudo-octahedral) crystals. The largest crystal is 2.2 cm tip-to-tip, and backlighting will bring out the lovely blue color when you show the translucence to best effect. Every bit as important is the field of micro Gerdtremmelite (TYPE LOCALITY) crystals that preferentially grace one Scorodite crystal face. Both are arsenates, and this is a historically important specimen for Tsumeb. Aesthetic with the sharp, large crystals and notable color, very few of these ever came to market.
