Malachite from Milpillas Mine, Mexico. 21st Century.

Malachite is a copper mineral famous for its intense, green color. It most often forms in large masses suitable only for cutting. This example, however, has exquisite expression and complexity, boasting dozens of malachite crystals in a curving, S-formation. Each crystal has the sumptuous look and sheen of velvet, making it appear luxuriantly soft, belying its hard texture. The rich, green malachite is starkly contrasted by a matrix of white barite.
