Silver from Freiberg District, Germany. 19th Century.

Wire-form silvers hold a special place in the hearts of collectors and have been documented in collections since the 15th century. Sculpturesque in form, this exceptional silver is a fine example of how artistic and unpredictable formations can be. Robust base “roots” ground the piece, and its wispy, almost-fantastical tendrils, create imagery not out of place in a dark fairytale or the finest collection.
