Quartz with Halloysite inclusions
Cabiche, Quípama, Western Boyacá Province, Boyacá Department, Colombia
8.4x12.1x6.9cm
Truly superb example of the Quartz nicknamed either "Mango Quartz" or "Corona Quartz". This piece has excellent clarity, luster, saturation of Halloysite and aesthetics. This deposit was originally discovered a while back, but remained secret until just before the Covid pandemic. Prior to the pandemic the material was called "Corona Quartz", because the Halloysite interrupts the growth of some of the terminations, creating crown-like growth. Due to unfortunate timing with the trade name of this material, a quick name change happened, now usually referred to as Mango Quartz. Again the name is a reference to the Halloysite inclusions, this time to the bright yellow color, which is reminiscent of a mango.
-This piece has a custom clutch mount base, which gives the appearance that the specimen is floating and allows the terminated crystal below the matrix to remain visible.
