Cluster of Cobaltoan Calcite with good saturation, large scalenohedral crystals in an aesthetic spray formation, perched on matrix. Specimen is from the Mashamba West Mine in the southern Katanga Copper Crescent, of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Mashamba West is known for producing high quality secondary Copper minerals, including Cobaltoan Calcites. Cobaltoan Calcite forms when Cobalt ions replace Calcium in the Calcite crystal lattice.
