Fluorite
This miniature aggregate of deep purple Fluorite crystals is from the famous Treak Cliff Cavern at High Peak in Derbyshire where the polished ornamental variety Blue John is mined. Well-crystallized specimens are not at all common and this one comes from the famous Fluorite collection of Arvid Pasto (no. AEP 1387), author of the 2009 book, Collector's Guide to Fluorite. The largest Fluorite cube reaches 1.6 cm on edge and sits that the end of a 'tumble' of slightly smaller aggregated cubes. As with all purple Fluorite crystals from Treak Cliff Cavern they are almost opaque and very dark in appearance with a matt surface texture. There is minor damage to individual crystals, but it is a nice classic example from this important locality and on the back its matrix is the classic purple and white breccia.
