BARYTE on Fluorite
This is a rarely seen specimen from the little-known Raygill Level near Hawes in Wensleydale, North Yorkshire. Despite being very unusual it is also surprisingly well crystallized. Pale cream coloured nodular cockscomb aggregates of Baryte encrust brownish-beige Fluorite crystals. The largest complete Baryte nodule is 1.7 cm in diameter, but some of the incomplete ones are larger. Collected in 2000, it has passed through the collections of Barry Smith and Helen Wilkinson, Ben Creighton (no. BC921) and Arvid Pasto (no. P1543).
