Scheelite
This clove-brown twinned bipyramidal/octahedral Scheelite crystal is from one of the most famous of occurrences - Tae Hwa mine in South Korea. The crystals are twinned just slightly off centre, producing a stepped notch around the middle of the specimen. They do have blemishes and a few contacted edges, but it is rare to see 'floater' doubly-terminated or twinned Scheelite crystals such as this. Patches of rusty orange Goethite include the crystal in several areas and these probably represent the points from which this crystal was attached to matrix, thus how it was able to grow 3-dimensionally as a twinned bipyramid. On the theme of Goethite, there is also a single, 3.5 mm wide, cubic Goethite pseudomorph after Pyrite embedded in the Scheelite on one edge and a couple of other octahedral Scheelite crystals perched on the side too. As with most Scheelite, it fluoresces bright white under shortwave UV light.
