Fluorite with Chalcopyrite
Unknown Owner
This gorgeous cabinet-sized display specimen of classic colour-zoned Denton mine Fluorite also comes with really great provenance. It was mined in November 1986 from the Rosiclare Horizon. It is a significant cleaved corner of a large cubic Fluorite crystal, with razor-sharp edges. The colour zoning is especially fine, displaying the distinctive yellow core around which a wide outer layer of blue-purple has developed. Not only is it bi-coloured, but the innermost part of the crystal is recessed, with the outer surface giving the appearance of being complete crystals sat over the surface of the core. The yellow central area also presents an attractive refraction of light, adding real character. Sparse Chalcopyrite crystals are scattered both upon the surface and as inclusions. The Fluorite is translucent, allowing backlighting that really brings out its brightness. This is a classic Denton mine Fluorite, in extremely fine condition, and a great size for display.
