Fluorite with BARYTE
Jaimina mine, at Asturias in northern Spain has produced some incredibly glassy Fluorite crystals, often with the added benefit of intricately complex crystal faces. This fabulous cabinet-sized display specimen from Arvid Pasto's collection is no exception. Comprising a rich aggregate of Fluorite crystals between icy-blue and pale lavender in colour, and with an extremely gemmy appearance. White bladed, sometimes wafer-thin, Baryte crystals form a layer underneath part of the Fluorite and extends up through the Fluorite in a few areas. The Fluorite crystals look on first impressions to be straight forward cubes, but there is a slight development of hexoctahedron faces on their corners and edges. There is slight chipping to the corners of a couple of the Fluorite crystals, but it is the amazing transparency and alluring colour which sets this one off. A gorgeous Spanish Fluorite.
