Green Beryl
A majestic and highly unusual green beryl crystal, that is neither aquamarine nor heliodor but some color in between that is hard to describe. It is complete all around, very gemmy, and has a sparkle and style to it superficially similar to Ukrainian heliodors at first glance. It is an old specimen from Brazil, which seems to have been acquired in the 1970s when Jack was buying a lot of such crystals from Pete Bancroft (who travelled to Brazil frequently). It is possibly from Dr. Bancroft, but at least dates to those early years of gem crystal imports. 156 grams. Figure 73 on page #86 of Addicted to Beauty: The Legacy of Jack Halpern (Mineralogical Record, March 2025). Laszlo Kupi photo.
