Limestone quarries at Niagara Falls have, in the past, produced some very nice purple Fluorite crystals, usually on beige-coloured Dolomite matrix. This lovely large miniature specimen is from the impressive Fluorite collection assembled by Arvid Pasto and features one main 1 cm cube of pale purple glassy Fluorite, sat nicely inside an open cavity in dolomitic limestone. The Fluorite crystal has very fine, sharp edges, with little sign of damage, and features a most unusual 'canyon' on one side, where the crystal face is naturally recessed in a square-side valley. A fine Fluorite from an unusual occurrence.
