This 11.8 cm long, terminated, individual prismatic Elbaite tourmaline crystal from Coronel Murta in Jequitinhonha Valley, Minas Gerais state, Brazil is simply magnificent. Not only is it extremely well-formed, with a perfect pyramidal termination, and glassy striated sides, but it has the most beautiful rich intense teal-blue colour. When presented with good backlighting this crystal is breathtaking and has a real presence about it. It is repaired, as many tourmaline are, but this is not immediately apparent, showing the quality with which this has been done. An absolutely gorgeous Coronel Murta Elbaite just waiting to light up somebodies mineral cabinet.
