This thumbnail Elbaite tourmaline crystal displays the richest intense raspberry red tip to its termination that you could wish for. It is from the now famous Coronel Murta in Minas Gerais state, Brazil, and although admittedly small, it is very beautiful. The short, well-formed crystal is pale pink and inclusion-rich at its base and lower half, grading up to the intense deep raspberry-red glassy termination which is extremely well-formed and with very little chipping. A small subsidiary gemmy Elbaite crystal protrudes from one side of the main crystal at a 30 degree angle just below the termination.
