If you collect large statuesque specimens this tall and slightly divergent spray of Quartz crystals from Kosovo might interest you. From the Trepča Complex whose history of mining is a very long one: dating back to the Roman period and continuing to this day with large reserves of lead and zinc still in place. The 'Complex' has, over the years, encompassed over 40 mines, but most mineral specimens are not specifically recorded to individual mines. This dramatic 24 cm tall piece displays all the classic characteristics of the Quartz's from the Trepča mines, including 'turreted' or stepped smaller Quartz crystals around the edges of the main tall crystals. Minor small Pyrite crystals are sparsely scattered upon the upper parts of the Quartz crystals and minor Calcite can be seen around the base. The crystals are mostly milky white in colour, but colourless to grey areas are also present. The crystals are glassy, but not overly so, due to the stepped crystal surfaces breaking up the uniform reflection of light. It should be pointed out that there is minor damage to one or two of the Quartz crystals around the periphery but the specimen is very 3-dimensional and can be presented from several sides and is an imposing piece really best suited to the larger display collector. Ex Huber collection. This specimen comes with a custom Sunnywood acrylic base mounting it upright for optimal display.
