Andradite with Hematite$2,500.00

Wire transfers available, to set up
This almost pure bed of Andradite crystals from Serifos Island in the South Aegean Sea offshore from Greece is quite unlike any other garnet you will come across. The colour-zoned crystals have an almost 'crystal model'-like appearance to them with their dark brown rims to the crystal edges providing the 'framework' to the crystal and drawing the eye the most, and the paler orange-brown cores providing a superb contrast and, being slightly recessed, giving a wonderful structural feel to them. This superb small cabinet specimen displays abundant intergrown orange-brown dodecahedral Andradite Garnet crystals exceptionally reaching 1.7 cm across, but mostly in the 6 to 9 mm range. The Andradite crystals are very nicely formed, with sharp edges and in one small area a 1 cm wide cluster of black rosetted specular Hematite crystals can be seen. At certain angles, in an optical illusion, these dodecahedral crystals look like cubes. Classic Andradite from Serifos Island. This island is known for its skarn mineralization, with these Andradite Garnet groups probably being its most iconic species. With support this superb specimen sits nicely upright for display. A top quality Andradite.
