This is a deceptively rich Pyromorphite from the classic Bad Ems District in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. Its original handwritten label simply states Braubach but careful inspection of the crystal form shows similarities with many specimens from Rosenberg mine. Small cabinet in size the specimen is quite light, being a porous box-work matrix of Quartz-Goethite, but the Pyromorphite crystals are actually extremely well-formed as wide hexagonal prisms to 4 mm in length, and displaying the classic Bad Ems cappuccino colour. These crystals are richly dispersed throughout cavities within the matrix, but with enough space to represent individual well-formed crystals. A fine German classic for the price.
