Stibnite
Unknown Owner
This is a small cabinet-sized European classic. For several decades during the end of the 20th century mines in Maramureș County, Romania produced wonderful aesthetic sprays of acicular and bladed Stibnite - antimony sulphide. Although they in no way compare to the largest individual crystals historically from Japan and more recently from China, they provided exceptional groupings of perfectly formed crystals. This lovely smaller display Stibnite specimen balances relatively thick, dark grey metallic prismatic crystals with fine, damage-free terminations. Many of the Stibnite crystals reach over 1.2 cm in length, which is admittedly not large, but they all look pristine and fan out nicely like any fine Romanian Stibnite should. Ex David Hardman collection.
