Description

An exceptionally aesthetic specimen of tourmaline on a matrix of cleavelandite and lepidolite from the Pederneira mine. This specimen came from a lesser known pocket called the Green Scepter pocket, which was found in 2005. When the Pederneria Mine article was written in 2015, specimens from this pocket had yet to be processed and released or photographed. The pocket was small and yielded only around a dozen good specimens, this being one of them. The specimen stands out to me for a few reasons: (1) the dramatic position of the tourmaline crystal (2) the perfection of the aesthetics from every viewing angle (3) the quality of the minerals composing the specimen. The tourmaline has perfect luster, excellent transparency, perfect color saturation, and excellent condition. The cleavelandite is large, well-formed, and even gem quality in a few sections.
