A plethora of sharp crystals, averaging 5mm in size, completely coat the display side of this stunning piece. Exhibiting an intense magenta color, this Kammererite is an extremely colorful and engaging specimen! Even in modest light the Kammererite crystals are quite gemmy and almost glow with deep magenta color. All of the monoclinic crystals are distinct and well-terminated, coming to a point at their tips, like a triangular pyramid. The brightness, color and luster are hard to convey in the photos and it is certainly much better in person. Kammererite is a chromian variety of Clinochlore which is a member of the Chlorite Group. Kammererite of this quality was found over three decades ago and is seldom seen for sale today. In fact, this location is a chapter in Peter Bancroft's great 1984 book, Gem & Crystal Treasures.
