A glassy and lustrous, 7 x 4 mm crystal of the very rare lead arsenate, Schultenite, sits prominently at one end of a magnificent bed of superbly crystallised, mid to deep emerald green Zincolivenite (formerly named Cuproadamite). Tsumeb mine is the type locality for Schultenite. The Zincolivenite forms sharp pointed, gemmy crystals to around 8 to 10 mm. Also occurring on top of the Zincolivenite is a small cluster of milky Quartz crystals and very minor, micro-granular, grey Leadhillite. The Schultenite is semi-transparent and although colourless, does give occasional internal flashes of iridescent light blue. The underlying matrix is a dark grey, fine-textured mixed sulphide ore. This specimen comes with a University of Delaware Mineralogical Museum label. On the back of the label someone has written “look for keyite” as this is commonly associated with this assemblage; sadly, no keyite can be seen.
