Tucson, Arizona, USADioptase is one of the first minerals that springs to mind when thinking of the famous Tsumeb mine. It's true that there are many other localities in Africa as well as elsewhere in the world where it is found, but those from Tsumeb just seem to hold an edge over the others. This is not only down to size and crystal form, but because they are just so gemmy. This superb miniature specimen features an aggregate of very glossy, intense emerald green Dioptase crystals, displaying the classic rhombic prism form for which Tsumeb is renowned. Of these crystals one really stands out, at 1.6 cm in length, standing upright alongside several other large crystals. It displays really nicely and these main crystals show no discernible damage. Mounted on an acrylic base for display. A choice Tsumeb miniature Dioptase which will add colour to any display.
