This lovely sparkling pink specimen might be mistaken as 'just' a very fine Rhodochrosite, but there is far more to it. The Rhodochrosite forms a lovely finely crystallized crust on a beige matrix that extends around to the other side of the specimen. However, sat discretely on top is a ball-like beige aggregate of the rare manganese silicate species - Caryopilite. This ball reaches 1 cm in diameter which is quite substantial for this species. The display surface of Rhodochrosite is pristine with just one tiny area of contact damage on the back of the specimen. A really fine Rhodochrosite from the famous N'Chwaning III mine with added rarity factor.
