Description
This stunning sculptural large cabinet-sized display Malachite specimen is from a new find in the Tenke-Fungurume area in the Kolwezi mining district, DR Congo. The Malachite, formed on a bed of crystallized Quartz, presents as a thick layer of long parallel stalactites, reaching 8.6 cm in length. These overlap, giving the impression of even longer length and extend way beyond the edge of the Quartz matrix making for a beautiful and dramatic artistic display. The Malachite generally displays a fine deep green colour with a sparkly lustre, in some areas reminiscent of glitter, but nearer to their tips the Malachite is much paler green with a matt lustre, providing a fine contrast. A stunning display specimen, but requiring support to stand.
