Description
This rich silver- and antimony ore specimen from Guanajuato in Mexico features several rare species and is from the superb systematic collection assembled by the brothers Martin and Michael Günther (1951-2007 & 1956-2021). Comprising a small cabinet-sized vein section bounded on both sides by Pyrite, it includes the dark grey-black silver lead sulphosalt Andorite (now renamed as Senandorite) and dark grey acicular Stibnite and Fizelyite. A rich example of these rare silver-bearing species from one of Mexico's most famous silver mining regions, producing silver almost continually for well over two centuries, and being the world's largest producer in the late 18th century.
