Description
This is a really distinctive specimen from a very unusual location. Indeed, it is not often that fine specimens are seen from San Antonio mine, Aranzazú, Concepción del Oro Municipality, Zacatecas, Mexico. This remarkable large cabinet specimen displays many wonderful sharp tetragonal Chalcopyrite crystals, to 1 cm across, all tarnished with a dark grey coating. They sit upon an aggregate of opaque white scalenohedral Calcite crystals with additional patches of golden Pyrite. Some of the Chalcopyrite crystals are twinned, and at least one is damaged, but the majority of the specimen is intact, including the pointed Calcite crystals. For such an obscure occurrence this is an exceptional piece.
