CC29971EMMONSITE
Emmonsite is a rare hydrated iron tellurite first described from Tombstone in Arizona in the 1880s. Other occurrences have been made in Arizona and New Mexico, but the world's best crystals come from Moctezuma in Sonora, Mexico. This fine miniature specimen is recorded as specifically from Bambollita mine at Moctezuma and is from the superb systematic collection assembled by the brothers Martin and Michael Günther (1951-2007 & 1956-2021). On it, Emmonsite is widespread as tiny microcrystals widely dispersed across the surface, but the main feature is a cavity at one end from which protrude several classic, vivid green, curved, filament-like crystals to 3 to 4 mm in length.
