A gorgeous colorful grouping one of what were once sharp azurite crystals to 3.0 cm in height, these now replaced by velvety green crystallized malachite, across the front of this matrix with blue crystallized plancheite. Great color combination, in super condition.
The Milpillas Mine, located in Sonora, Mexico, is a modern copper-producing operation discovered by Industrias Peñoles, with commercial production beginning around 2006 to 2008. Geologically, the deposit is a supergene-enriched porphyry copper system hosted within fractured and altered volcanic and sedimentary rocks, where intense oxidation and groundwater leaching created exceptional secondary mineral environments. Mineralogically, the mine has achieved legendary status among collectors worldwide for producing some of the finest, most pristine specimens of secondary copper minerals ever discovered, most notably vivid, deep blue azurite crystals and brilliant emerald-green malachite pseudomorphs of striking quality and luster.
