A truly unusual specimen from an American locality for cinnabar! The quality is an order of magnitude over most of what was found. As described by Rock Currier in his database: "Very Fine. Mostly two twinned cinnabar crystals up to about 13mm growing on drusy quartz. Don Boydston collection. Got the specimen from John Seibel when he sold Don's collection. The scale under the specimen is an inch with a rule at one cm. MInID: CVE-1NM. RHC7851." This is a shocking specimen from a USA locality. Don was one of the Golden Age collectors, and his collection had tons of unique USA treasures mostly from the early 1900s to the 1970s, that we will never see again. This was thought to have been found by the 1960s. The large crystal is 1.5 cm. We saw this historic classic and purchased it immediately at the first premiere of the bulk of the Rock Currier collection by his estate and former coworkers.
