A simply stunning "starburst" style of amethyst cluster from modern finds in Mexico. It is worthy of a nickname, and hyperbole, but we will let the photos speak for themselves. It is so much better in color and geometry, than any other miniature I can think of from this productive locality. Thousands of larger specimens have come to market, in bursts over time including a large find currently coming out. However, this is special amongst all. For my taste, the finest such miniature we know of because of the artful geometry combined with the intense color saturation. Jason New grew up around Mexico minerals, as his father Mike New cofounded and ran TopGem, the largest wholesale importer of Mexican specimens. He collects big Mexico pieces, but also had a small collection of elite-level thumbnails and miniatures built over decades.
