Tucson, Arizona, USAA rich 'sheet' of slightly hackly tarnished Native Silver rises up as an extension from a vein cutting through massive white Calcite. Siscoe mine at Nicol Township was a silver and cobalt mine and started life in 1908 as Miller Lake O'Brien mine, changing to Siscoe mine in 1945 under new ownership. It continued to operate until 1965. In total, it produced 36.8 million ozs of silver and 786,000 lbs of cobalt, but specimens are rarely seen available for sale. This very large miniature specimen of Native Silver is a wonderful example of how rich the ore was and displays nicely. Ex David Hardman collection, no. 1446.
