Description
This interesting large miniature specimen from David Hardman's collection features several nicely formed, tapering blue-grey crystals of Corundum within Mica-Feldspar matrix. It is labelled as the Spruce Pine Mining District, in North Carolina, which spans at least three counties. Corundum is well-known from this area, and was formerly mined in several places in North Carolina, but we have been unable to pin it down to a more specific locality. Someone with local knowledge will likely know better.
