Tucson, Arizona, USAA firmly cemented example of the naturally occurring ammonium chloride, Salammoniac, with patches of pale peachy Alunogen, an aluminium sulphate. This large miniature is from the coal mines around H'nichen in Saxony, Germany. The specimen has the characteristic efflorescent structure and texture of Salammoniac and although stable and relatively hard, needs to be handled with due respect. While handling it for this description no bits have crumbled-off, but you get the message. The Salammoniac forms both as earthy granular masses and spheres and as translucent white, glassy etched columns. It is accompanied by three old labels, one from Freiberg.
