These unique combination pieces of a very recognizable style came out in the early 2000s, probably 2003; and nothing like them has been seen since (from China, or anywhere). The combination of sharp dogtooth calcites draping the edges of gorgeous and lustrous amethyst crystals is visually appealing and has since that time been a highlight of any serious collection of unique Chinese finds. These are generally not available at any price, as they are not on the market unless old collections come up. We were lucky to find this in an old collection in China that came up for sale during COVID years. It is complete, and has no damage. The stunning contrast has made these memorable for 20 years. I (Rob) have been in this mine and at the level and zone they found these at the time in this working industrial wollastonite (silicon ore) mine...it is absolutely barren of pockets in that zone now and it is a miracle any were recovered at all.
