Quartz (Japan Law twin)
Japan Law twinned quartz has been a desired crystal style for hundreds of years, since first identified, and large crystals with sharp and balanced twinning are mesmerizing to look at and hold in person. We are working with the direct source bringing out a number of these fine Japan law twinned crystals from the high mountains of Nepal, after their short "summer" mining seasons. The work is difficult, the extraction is difficult, and this reaches nearly the largest size for such crystals. Each "wing" here is 8 cm, and the piece is both complete all around and, amazingly, has no repairs. This is why this large twinned single crystal really stands out. If the cold environment and the mining process do not cause them to fall apart in halves and pieces, it is very rare. Miners have to be careful to bring them out and wrap them, and then to send them down the mountain, in order to prevent temperature shocks that cause cracks and breakage. Here, we have a balanced and large crystal without the usual crackling and the expected repairs needed, making it all the more appealing.
