This fine small cabinet Tetrahedrite is from the world famous Herodsfoot mine, at Liskeard, Cornwall and dates to the times of Richard Talling when he was hoovering up all of the treasures that that mine could produce. How do we know this? Well, it is accompanied by a William W. Jefferis (1820-1906) label upon which he wrote that he obtained it on 21 October 1867. Classic Herodsfoot mine material, it displays the iconic shimmering golden Chalcopyrite coated Tetrahedrite crystals, looking like they were only just electroplated. Several of these crystals are contacted, exposing the darker grey Tetrahedrite inside, but the overall display is nice. The largest Tetrahedrite crystal reaches 1.5 cm on edge and they sit upon an uneven bed of crystallized Quartz along with smaller, dull grey Galena crystals. Ex Malcolm Southwood collection, no. MS 2011.182.
