Rhodochrosite
There are not many places in the world where gemmy Rhodochrosite crystals are found. Normally, you get great colour but not with transparency and internal brightness. Uchucchacua mine in Peru is one of the few exceptions and with a colour subtly different to most other occurrences - a fine raspberry pink-red. This lovely miniature specimen from Uchucchacua mine is covered in glossy translucent to transparent Rhodochrosite crystals. The crystals are not straightforward rhombs, nor tapering scalenohedra, but unusually complex forms with rhombic faces and subtle bevelled corners. Not all of the crystals are perfectly formed, but they are all undamaged and display a lovely uniform brightness. A fine, colourful Rhodochrosite miniature.
