Azurite
A significant specimen from the heyday of the world's most productive azurite mine. This stunning, elongate cluster of brilliantly blue Milpillas azurite has very large and absolutely superb, featuring a uniquely large and curvaceous style of azurite crystals. They are nearly undamaged crystals to 4.6 cm in edge of unusually rich azure blue color with hints of electric blue; and it is a perfect display piece in terms of the size and balance. It is very nearly pristine with just a few tiny dings (acceptable for the size, although some labs are now restoring such trivial bits). A number of such specimens came out, in this style, around 2014-15, but that was a decade ago and a find like that wasn't duplicated. There are nearly a dozen, large, super lustrous, textbook azurite crystals on this gorgeous piece that provide great composition and balance. Their size is phenomenal: with the smallest crystal at 2 cm and the largest at 4.16cm on edge! An exceptionally aesthetic azurite from Milpillas with the the deep and electric blue tones s both showing beautifully in this piece magnificent piece that was a highlight of the Halpern collection. Jack was very proud of the Milpillas suite he built in his later collecting years, and these were among the last big splurges for the collection. He loved blue and there were a number of major Milpillas azurites added in 2013-2016, mostly purchased directly from myself in the early years; or from Evan Jones, who later handled a huge majority of the later finds. This one was from Evan. Jack loved color...and the most brilliant Milpillas azurites have a special color, not too dark, that leapt out from his shelves in his lighting.
