These sharp rutiles from Grave's Mountain are a modern classic from the USA and are actually hard to obtain in this good of quality in matrix. Particularly, a nice balanced matrix specimen like this is uncommon today, and most such pieces date to the 1980s or before. This single, untwinned rutile is emplaced aesthetically on matrix and exhibits a rich brown-metallic color with reddish highlights and a superb adamantine luster. It displays minor reddish internal reflections. It has very sharply developed crystal faces and edges and measures 4.3 cm in maximum dimension. It's a nicely composed piece with the rutile placed centrally within the colorful granular rutile matrix that has variegated red-brown and orange-brown iron oxide staining for great contrast.
