This is an old Russian classic mineral from the 1990s: a large, geometric, pseudohexagonal spinel-twinned galena crystal is perched perfectly on a base of sphalerite, quartz and additional galena crystals. The big, 3.3 cm, tabular and twinned, silvery-gray galena crystal displays a bright luster and and a cool metallic surface texture that adds to its aesthetics; as does the large trigon shape on its main face. This dimensional galena stands atop a cluster of smaller, similarly twinned galena at the base of the big galena and are between 0.3 and 1.5 cm across and accompanied by some black-brown sphalerite crystals and needle-like milky quartz crystals that average 5 mm in length. On the back, the lower half of the piece below the galena shows abundant, granular, subhedral sphalerite crystals. This piece is in excellent condition and is well composed! A classic from the days when these first came out.
